Jewel Dean Worthy, 89, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Brandon Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Taylorsville, MS on November 30, 1921. Visitation will begin at First Baptist Church in Florence at 9:30 am Tuesday, December 7, 2010. Funeral Services are 11 am at the Church with burial to follow at 2 pm in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Taylorsville, MS. Rev. Buddy Sheriff will Officiate. Ms Jewel was a nurse and worked at many facilities including Addie McBryde Rehabilitation for the Blind which she retired from. She served as the former State President of Licensed Practical Nurses Association. After retirement she co-owned Worthy House of Flowers. Over the years, Ms Jewel held membership at Briarwood Baptist Church and for the last 12 years was a member of First Baptist Church, Florence, MS. She loved her Church family very much. Ms Jewel was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ernest Marion Worthy; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Anderson; and a number of brothers and sisters. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne Armstrong and a granddaughter, Stephanie Renee Cerami. Survivors include her grandson, Tim Rutland and his wife, Stephanie; three great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Florence; Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children or the charity of your choice
