Jewell C. (Jill) Levanway passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 17, 2015, at the age of 90. She was born on New Year’s Eve, 1924 to Edward and Helen Clanton in Hillsborough County, FL.
In 1945 she was married to Russell W. Levanway of Troy, NY upon his return from service in Italy in WWII.
The couple lived in Miami, FL and Syracuse NY, before settling in Jackson, MS, where he was head of the Psychology Dept. at Millsaps College. In Jackson they enjoyed many years together while rearing their four children.
Jill enjoyed cooking and vegetable gardening, and got much pleasure from her blueberries. Other activities included stained glass work and her water aerobics class.
Jill is survived by her four children; Scott, Mike and his wife Mary, Kathi Acy and her husband Marcus, and Doug and his wife Kathe, seven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. The family will have a gathering to celebrate her life at a later date.
