Jill Beshell

Jill Beshell, age 85 of Tupelo, MS, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

Jill was born in Luling, Texas on December 16, 1936, to O. H. (Peck) Beshell and Lois Galloway Beshell.  She graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas and then Texas Christian University in l959.  Soon after her graduation, her mother passed away, and Jill moved to Brandon, MS to be near her sister and family.  After being traveling Chapter Advisor for her sorority, she began her service in the Lord’s work at St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Jackson, MS.  Realizing she needed more training to be an effective leader, Jill left Jackson and enrolled in Emory University in Atlanta.  While earning her Masters degree, Jill worked at a Methodist church in Griffin, GA.  After graduation, she served in Rome, GA, Chattanooga, TN, Knoxville, TN, and Tampa, FL before returning to Mississippi.  She served at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Rankin County over 25 years, the last 6 as an Ordained Deacon.  Jill retired with 41 years of service in Methodist churches.  After retiring, she remained in Rankin County until moving to Traceway Retirement Community in 2014.  The family would like to thank the staff of Traceway for their efforts in making Jill’s time there comfortable.

Jill was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jean B. Benton (Al), and survived by her nephew Larry Benton (Barbara), Grandnieces Sara B. Hagar (Randy) and Stephanie P. Cayson (David).

Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS., Saturday March 26, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 am with Graveside Services to Follow at Brandon Memorial Gardens at 11:15 am.
