Jimmie Carol Williams, 77, died Monday, November 22, 2010 at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon. Visitation is Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 5 – 9 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home and 1 pm Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Briar Hill Baptist Church. Funeral Services are 2 pm Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Briar Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Briar Hill Cemetery.
Jimmie Carol Williams was born in the Poplar Springs Community of Simpson County, MS. She was a graduate of Mendenhall High School in 1952. She had been a resident of the Briar Hill Community since 1964. She was the former owner of Florence Grocery and Market in Florence, MS and was a member of the Briar Hill Baptist Church. She had worked around the Jackson area for a number of years as a bookkeeper, including Highway 25 Lakeland Tractor in Pelahatchie, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Granvill and Roma Rankin Hord; her husband, Charlie L. Williams; and her son, Robert Earl Williams.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherri Jamiel Slocum of Star, MS; her son, Phil Williams of Brandon, MS; her sister, Glenda Downer of Linden, Michigan; and her brother, Gordon Hord of Swartz Creek, Michigan; three grandsons, Payton Slocum, Wesley Slocum, and Charles Joseph Williams and great grandchildren.
