Jimmy Doyle Burton of Brandon, MS made his glorious journey to heaven on July 12, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born January 11, 1955 in Jackson, MS to Lloyd and Martha Burton and affectionately nicknamed “Jimbo”.
Jimbo graduated from Byram School and Hinds Jr. College. He also attended MS State University. A retired home builder, he and his dad worked together constructing “Burton Built Homes” for residents of Jackson and the surrounding areas. He was most proud to serve his country in the Air National Guard of MS and retired with over 23 years of service. His greatest love was for family. Jimbo was quite the thrifty one, always on a mission for the latest BOGO special, but he showered his family and friends with generosity. He was simply the classic good guy. Traveling and exploring the world was a great joy to him, especially when it included his daughters. He had a special bond with his stepson and side kick. The best times were just riding in the truck and spending time together. He remained close with his children’s mom, his best friend, continuing to experience life together. A favorite pastime was to seek out the best coupon deals together and save a few bucks. He dearly loved his sisters and tolerated very well them telling him every little thing to do. Jimbo loved to worship the Lord at Life Church in Brandon, and deeply valued his church family.
Jimbo is preceded in death by his loving parents. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Kayla Bowden (Manuel) and Lila Burton; stepson, Anthony McWilliams; Celeste Burton, mother of his children; granddaughters Luca Bowden and Sommer McWilliams; great granddaughter, Adalyn McWilliams; and sisters, Linda Halle (Don) and Beverly Burton.
Pallbearers are Don Halle, Joe Thornton, Austin Wilkinson, Manuel Bowden, Brandon McDaniel and Kyle Culbertson.
