Jimmy Dale “Jim” Gilmore, 81, passed away on Sat. April 27, 2024 at Community Place in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Tues. April 30, 2024 from 5pm-8pm and on Wed. May 1, 2024 from 9am-10am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 10am on Wed. May 1, 2024 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Old Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, MS. Rev. Steve Hill will officiate the services. Pallbearers are Tommy Rhodes, Phil Rhodes, Dale Westbrook, Billy Ray Robinson, Josh Huang and Larry Glass. Honorary Pallbearers are Spencer Freeny and Carson Gilmore.

Jim was born on Feb. 13, 1943 in Neshoba County, MS to the late George Oliver Gilmore and Johnnie Mae McKee Gilmore. He moved to Brandon, MS in 1971 and was the owner of Brandon Cash and Carry for 40 years. Jim served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Brandon Presbyterian Church and enjoyed helping people, gardening, planting flowers and working with his cattle. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer Freeny (Jeff); Jason Gilmore (Jill) and Scott Gilmore (Mindy); sisters, Carolyn Johnston and Hilda Lang (Max); brothers, Larry Gilmore, Benton Gilmore and George Gilmore (Debbie) and 8 grandchildren, Sarah Freeny, Olivia Freeny, Spencer Freeny, Sarah Kathryn Gilmore, Bailey Gilmore, Katie Gilmore, Carson Gilmore and Ella Gilmore. Jim is also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Sue Gilmore and a brother, Jerry Gilmore.
