Jimmy Dale Bryant was born June 19, 1935 in Newton County to his parents the late Doc and Evelyn Mabry Bryant. He passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian at the age of 80.

A graduate of Lake High School and East Central Junior College, he was a longtime supervisor with Borden Milk Company. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1961. As a personal testimony of his life, serving his Lord was top priority. He was a longtime member of Hazel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, choir member, Vacation Bible School worker, and on various committees. As longtime Sunday School teacher, he was elected most recently to serve another year as teacher of the class that he organized 46 years ago, serving in that capacity since its’ inception. He was affiliated with the Eastern Star and a member of the George D. Riley Masonic Lodge at Lake. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the South Hickory Hunting Club, where he enjoyed fellowship and friendships of fellow sportsmen, alike. Many times he could be found on the ball fields across the area supporting local teams, and those particularly of his grandchildren. He was a master of having fun and enjoying himself, always having time for his family, kids in the community, and his friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts and lives of those he touched.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years: Louise Bryant of Lake; three children: Randy (Carole) Bryant of Lake; Teresa Gibbs of Lawrence and Pamela (Greg) Luke of Lake; eight grandchildren: Shaun Bryant, Jeremy Bryant, Nicole Walker, Brittany Miller, Blake Luke, Bryson Luke, Alex Gibbs and Bryanna Luke; eight great-grandchildren: Candasie Hopson, Tabatha Bryant, Caydence Nester, Cole Bryant, Cannon Nester, Eli Bryant, Layla Miller, and one on the way; one brother: Tunk Bryant of Lake.
