Joan Blackwell Philley, age 79, a resident of Brandon passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at her residence. Visitation was held Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 3-5pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and 10am-11am Monday at the funeral home. Funeral services was held 11am Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Brandon and burial in Brandon Memorial Gardens. Dr. Scott Thomas officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
Joan Philley was born August 22, 1934 in Cruger, MS. She is retired from Bell South. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Guy H. Blackwell Sr. and Katie Callahan Blackwell.
She is survived by her son, Keith Philley (Clara); 3 grandchildren, Keith B. Philley II, Kelly Allen (Brad) and Katie Philley; 3 great grandchildren, Ariel Nichole Philley, Presley Claire Allen and Kellum Bradley Allen (soon to be); 2 nieces, Debbie Hamlin and Lisa Harvey and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were James Hamlin, Ralph Collier, Scott Campbell, D.L. May, Joe Burnham and Rick Holden.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
