Joe Hudson, born on September 29, 1938, in Silver Creek, Mississippi, passed away on December 1, 2024, at Select Specialty in Jackson, Mississippi. He enjoyed a career where he retired from Vickers Inc. Joe had a great passion for gospel music, promoting it with the Mississippi State Fair for over 27 years. He was also one of the founding members of the Mississippi Association of Pageant Judges.
Joe is remembered fondly for loving the time he spent with his family at gatherings. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Helen Hudson, along with his stepchildren Deborah Waguespack and her husband Bryant, Sherri Stubbs, and Barry Stubbs. He is also survived by his sister Janice Cooper and brother Robin Hudson. Joe was a proud grandfather to Amber Wallace and her husband Chad, BJ Waguespack and his wife Kayla, and Austin Waguespack, who are his step-grandchildren. He is also survived by step-great-grandchildren Finley Waguespack, Brody Waguespack, and Morgan Wallace. In addition, he will be missed by his niece Amy Massey and her husband Danny, and nephew Lane Cooper and his wife Pepper, nephew Richard Hudson, and niece Kim Mitchell and her husband David.
Joe is preceded in death by his father James Ray Hudson, mother Maggie Lena Stephens Hudson, and brother James Henry Hudson.
Visitation will be held on December 6, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Brandon, Mississippi. The funeral service will take place the following day, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM, also at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes. Burial will follow at Springfield Baptist Cemetery in Morton, MS. Joe Hudson's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
