Joe White

October 29, 1950 — August 29, 2017

Funeral services for Mr. Joe White will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Chapel with the Rev. Matt Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the White Family Cemetery in Smith County under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.

Visitation will be on from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.

Joseph Taylor White, Sr., was born on October 29, 1950 in Magee and passed away on August 29, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson at the age of 66.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing when his was able, and also loved raising a garden, in particular sunflowers. Attending football games and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren were favorite past times. He was a member of the Church of God by profession of his faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Rev. Ray White and Mrs. Dolly Mae Ellis White; and one brother: Gary White.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years: Mrs. Itaska “Tassie” White of Forest; five children: Joseph Taylor (Tracey) White, Jr.; Gary Dale (Jenni) White; Jeffrey Wade (Tina) White,  and Mark (Ashley) May, all of Forest and Billy Jason (Jessica Waggoner) White of Marydell; five siblings: Michael White of Lake; Jerry (Susan) White of Madden; Becky (Joe) Campbell of Forest; Jonathan (Betty) White of Philadelphia; and Greg (Carolyn) White of Meadville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be his sons: Joe, Gary, Jeffrey, Mark, and Billy; and Stepphon Sykes.
