John Wayne Blough Jr., 53, passed away Sun. Dec. 31, 2017 at his home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Fri. Jan. 5, 2018 from 10am-1:45pm with funeral services following at 2pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Burial will follow in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
Mr. Blough was born in Jackson, MS, was a longtime resident of Brandon, MS and was a member of Word Of Life Church in Flowood, MS. He grew up on Hilltop Painted Acres where he was an integral part of his family farm. Mr. Blough played football for Clinton High School, and was involved in the RCRC, USTRC, 4-H, MHSRA, where he competed in the National Finals. In 1997, after 13 years of service, he retired as a Lieutenant with the Pearl Fire Department where he was a Fireman Of The Year, and was certified Smoke Diver, HAZMAT, and EMT. Mr. Blough was currently employed at Morgan’s All Natural Stone in Brandon, MS. Mr. Blough held a Certificate for Bible Teaching through the New Orleans Theological Baptist Seminary, and started two charities, Wrestling For Christ and C.O.W.B.O.Y.S. which stands for Christ Outstanding Works Benefiting Our Youth Studies. Mr. Blough coached peewee football, Upward basketball, horse riding camps, trick roping and enjoyed teaching Western Heritage. He also was the author of a book titled “The C.O.W.B.O.Y.S. Play It. Work It. Live It.” Most of all Mr. Blough loved his children and gave everything he had to provide for them in more ways than one. The memory building moments will always be cherished.
He is survived by his children, Baylea Blough Callicutt (James Thomas), Makenna Elise Blough, John Wayne “Colt” Blough III and Lillian Grace Blough; sisters, Ellen Blough Morgan (Brad) and Gina Blough Archer (Brad) and his nieces and nephews, Zadya and Zoe Morgan and Kelsea, Kari, Kaden and Kensley Archer. Mr. Blough is preceded in death by his parents, John Wayne Blough Sr. and Brenda Karen Gordon Blough.
