John Wesley Craven age 72 a resident of Morton passed away on February 23, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
John was born June 12, 1948 to Purcell and Auy Jernigan Craven in Taylorsville, MS. Later in life he moved to Morton, MS where he met his wife Tena Saxton. John was a welder by trade and built many trailers. He had a passion for mules, horses, covered wagons, and could be seen every year in the Dixie National Wagon Train Trail Ride to Jackson, MS. John was a family man; caring for his wife, his girls and all the grand and great grandkids gave him great joy. John never met a stranger and will be missed by all that loved and knew him.
Survived by wife Tena; three daughters, Renee Bynum, her husband, Robert, Amy Brown, her husband, Lucas, Carol Brown, her fiancé, Kirk Powell; two sisters, Doris Jones and Helen Jones; eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, along with a host of other family and friends.
Preceded in death are his parents, Purcell and Auy Craven; one brother; two sisters; one grandchild Tiffany Bynum and one daughter, Regina Boykin.
Visitation will be on March 13, 2021 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Morton, MS from 12:00 pm to 1:50 pm, with the funeral service following at 2:00 pm at the church.
There will be a Wagon Train Funeral Procession to Morton Memorial Gardens.
Funeral Services are entrusted with Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS.
