John Alvin Goza, 85, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at his residence. Visitation is 5-7 pm Sunday, June 11, 2017 and 9 am Monday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services will be held at 10 am Monday, June 12, 2017 at the funeral home with burial in Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery in Flowood.
Mr. Goza was a longtime resident of Rankin County. He was a very faithful member of Brandon First United Methodist Church where he enjoyed cooking for all special occasions. Mr. Goza was very involved in the maintenance of the church for many years and was always willing to serve on any committee when asked. He was a Korean Air Force Veteran, avid sportsman who loved NASCAR and especially Jeff Gordon. Mr. Goza was very talented and enjoyed working with his hands, particularly in his garden.
Survivors include his daughter, Pat Cochran of Brandon; sons, Mike Goza (Sheila) of Brandon and Billy Goza of Yazoo City; grandchildren, Josh Cochran, Jordan Goza, Brandon Goza, Lauren Buntin and Kristina Goza; great-grandchildren, Alex, Connor, Addison, Ann Marie and soon to be great- granddaughter, Rivers; sister, Sylvia Ketcham of Clinton; brothers, Milton Goza of Rolling Fork and Walter Goza of Jackson.
