Mr. John Ellis Harrell, age 70, a resident of the Kalem Community passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. His visitation will be held 5-8pm Friday, April 17, 2015 at Kalem United Methodist Church and 1-3pm Saturday at the church. Funeral service will be held 3pm Saturday at Kalem United Methodist Church and burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Art Kinstley and Bro. Scott Adcox will officiate the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
John was born in Scott County on June 20, 1944. He retired from a long career with International Paper Company. John loved to hunt and fish. He also loved to work in his garden and watch western movies. John loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Glover Harrell and Pauline James Harrell and son Nova James Harrell.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Sherrye Bishop Harrell of Kalem; daughter, Sharon Novita Caves (Ervin) of Magee; son, Wesley D. Harrell of Kalem; 8 grandchildren; step daughter, Stacy Bass; sisters, Danna Rushing (Wayne) of Harperville and Francis Cagle of Memphis, TN; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Bishop, Chris Rushing, Daniel Rushing, Trey Rushing, Alan Graham and Terrell Harvey. Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Sistrunk and Jody McCurdy.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Hederman Cancer Center in Jackson, MS or a memorial of your choice.
