John Massey

April 22, 1986 — October 6, 2016

Funeral services for Mr. John Massey will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 10, 2016 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Foster and Rev. Johnny Beaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Springs Cemetery at Chunky under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.


Visitation will be Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Monday.


John was born April 22, 1986 and passed away, Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the age of 30.


He was a longtime resident of Forest, having moved to Chunky in 2013.


He was a very loving individual, always had a smile and a strong work ethic. Helping others was a top priority with John as that action always expressed his tender heartedness. He loved animals and loved to play pool. As quoted by a family member: “John was very happy; life didn’t get him down.” His memory will live on in the hearts of the lives he touched.


John was a member of the Steele Baptist Church.


He is survived by his wife: Karen Gressett Massey of Chunky; his parents: Tony and Edna Beaver Massey of Philadelphia; his siblings: Cody (Marilyn) Massey of Flowood; Crystal (Justin) Dolan of Morton; Naomi Massey and Jennifer (Zack) Perkins, both of Union; and Jonathan (Lauren) Hatch of Mooreville, NC; his grandparents: Billy Joe and Joan Massey of Philadelphia; Mickey and Shirley Beaver of Forest and Bob & Berty Downey of Chambersburg, IL; seven nieces and eight nephews.
