John Pierce

John West Pierce, Brandon, MS

John West Pierce, 86, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at the Brandon Nursing and Rehab Center in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 from 2pm.-5pm. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 10am. Monday, Dec. 19, 2011 at the funeral home with a 12pm. Graveside Service to follow at the Decatur Cemetery in Newton County, MS.

Mr. Pierce was born in Canton, MS. He was a member of the Pearl Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Pierce served in the Navy during WWII, crossing the Pacific 11 times aboard the transport ship Admiral H. Rodman AP-126. He was a charter member of the Pearl Fire Department, he was a Rankin County Auxiliary Policeman, a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and working at his church. Mr. Pierce was greatly loved by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his four children, Larry Joe Pierce, Johnny Wayne Pierce, Ramona Lynn Kirkland, and Susan Elaine Pierce; five step-children, Craig Wann, Bob Wann, Betty Hammett, Bill Wann, and Mark Wann; one sister, Ruby Chaney; one brother, Jeff Pierce; seven grandchildren, Sean Pierce, Daniel Kirkland, Katie Kirkland, Andrew Kirkland, Shelly Powell, Chris Papizan, and Jonathan Papizan; eight great-grandchildren, Kayla Pierce, Sean Pierce Jr. Jaxon Pierce Kirkland, Cole Pierce, Allie Pierce, Cooper Powell, Jackson Papizan, and Palmer Papizan. He is also survived by numerous step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Pierce is preceded in death by his wives, Emma Jo Pierce and Patricia M. Pierce; two sisters and five brothers.
