John David Tuten, born Dec. 26, 1948, left this earth to be with his Lord on May 27, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Winstead and Evelyn Pearl Tuten, and his brother Mark Anthony Tuten. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon Lee Tuten, her brother Walter Wayne Greer (wife, Vonda), son Jason Matthew Tuten (wife, Katie) and grandsons Webster Lee and Winstead Graham. And daughter, Angela Jade Tuten-Ryan (husband, Jeremy) and granddaughter Evelyn Paige and brother Howard Earl Tuten (wife, Gloria), and sister Betty Jane Ainsworth (husband, Chuck.) Also nephews Peter Earl Tuten, Bradley Howard Tuten and William Corey Ainsworth, and niece Traci Brooke Tuten. He was a 1966 graduate of Central High School and attended Hinds Community College, after college he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1973. John was a lifelong member of Leavell Woods United Methodist Church. He began his trucking career in 1976 at Jones Truck Lines and continued his career with Yellow Freight from 1991 to 2021. He was a 45-year member of Teamsters Local Union No. 891. John was a loving and hardworking husband, father, and grandfather. He started his working career with a paper route at only 11 years old. He will be loved and missed by everyone who met him. Visitation services will be Sunday, May 30, from 4PM to 7PM at Ott & Lee in Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 31, 11AM at Ott & Lee in Brandon, followed by burial service at Shiloh United Methodist Church’s cemetery in Pelahatchie, MS.
