John Watts, Jr.

September 30, 1924 — December 24, 2015

Mr. John William Watts Jr., age 91, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Wisteria Gardens in Pearl, MS. Visitation was held 5-7pm Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 2-2:30pm Sunday at Rehobeth Baptist Church. Services were held 2:30pm Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Rehobeth Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Rick Hammarstrom and Bro. Ronnie Spears officated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr.Watts was born in Hinds County on September 30, 1924. He was a World War II Veteran and was proud to have served in the United States Navy. John was an avid outdoorsman and loved to brim fish, squirrel and rabbit hunt. After retirement as a trucker with Illinois Central Railroad, he enjoyed driving a tour bus for many years. He was a faithful church member and deacon at Rehobeth Baptist Church in Pelahatchie. John was known for his love of helping stray animals and could always be seen riding his dog around in his truck. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nina Mae Norris Watts; parents, John William Watts Sr. and Letha Mae Nations Watts; 4 sisters, Ruby King, Nell Dear, Fay King and Margaret Jones; brother, Glen Watts; 2 nephews, Tony Zoll and Raymond Nance.

He is survived by his children, Sandee Raker of Benton, Renee Hammarstrom (Rick) of Pelahatchie, Jack W. Watts (Margaret) of Sandhill and Lynn Watts of Pelahatchie; 5 grandchildren, Shawn Raker, Shelly Mingo, David Hammarstrom (Lisa), Bo Hammarstrom (Holly), Teresa Middleton (Todd); 13 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Charles Watts (Edna) of Pelahatchie and Ray Watts of Star; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Richard Watts, Charles Harris Watts, Ricky Watts, Don Watts, Ronnie Watts and Will Norris Jr.

Donations may be made in his name to Mississippi Animal Rescue League, 5221 Greenway Drive Ext., Jackson, MS 39204.
