John E. Hawthorne, 86, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Hospice Ministries, Inc. in Ridgeland.
Visitation will be 2-6pm Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS and starting 9am on Monday. Services will follow at 10am in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in Florence Cemetery.
He was born in the Rehobeth Community of Rankin County on April 25, 1930 to the late Charles Allen and Eliza Webb Hawthorne. He was a longtime resident of Rankin County and a member of First Baptist Church Florence, where he was a Deacon. He worked for over 40 years as a master plumber. He was a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 236, Mason and member of the Plain Lodge #622, and a Shriner.
Survivors include wife, Agnes L. Hawthorne of Florence; son, Larry Edward Hawthorne (Marla) of Woodward, OK, Kenneth Lynn Hawthorne (Elizabeth) of Richland, MS; son-in-law, Nelson McWilliams of Florence; 5 grandchildren, Nicole Holcom, Savannah Hawthorne, Jeremy Hawthorne, T.J. McWilliams and Michelle Vinzant; 2 great grandchildren, Alexis Curtis and Caitlyn Curtis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Faye McWilliams and a grandson, Andy Ray Hawthorne.
