John H. McCollough, age 70, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation is 2-4 pm Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 1 pm Monday at the funeral home with a 3 pm graveside at Mendenhall City Cemetery.
John was a native of Florida and a longtime resident of Rankin County. He married Pamela Jean Terry, his high school sweetheart, in July of 1969. John worked for UPS for 33 years, retiring in 2011 and then enjoyed a “second career” working on antique clocks. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed gardening. John was a good and generous man who was always glad to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Pamela; son, Russell McCollough (Kim) of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Shellie McCollough Mangum (Adam) of Flowood; granddaughters, Megan McCollough, Catherine Waggoner and Alyssa Mangum. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Charles and Shirley McCollough.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Hospice Ministries for their kindness and consideration during his stay there. John fought hard to stay with us, but unfortunately, it was a fight he just couldn’t win. It is a comfort to his family and friends to know that he is now at peace with Jesus.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.
