Johnny Goodson

Johnny L. Goodson, age 69, a resident of the Lemon community south  of Forest, died Sunday, January 23, 2022,  surrounded by his family, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Thursday, January 27, 2022, from the Christian Life Fellowship with Bro. Clayborn Huff and Bro. Robert Fortenberry officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Carr Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5pm till 8pm Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Christian Life Fellowship. Funeral services will be provided by OTT & LEE Funeral Home of Forest.

Mr. Goodson was born on August 23, 1952, in  Smith County to his parents Willie Ray Goodson and Cora Mae Thrasher Goodson.  He remained in this area and worked for many years for the Jack Batte & Sons Lumber Company.  He was a Christian gentleman who loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who treasured time spent with his family.  He loved the outdoors,  gardening,  and fishing.  He always looked forward to going elk hunting.  Mr. Goodson loved to help people in need, as he was always lending a hand to make others' lives easier and more meaningful.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Megan Goodson.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 52 years, Wanda Wallace Goodson, children, Shea Goodson Warren, Ashley Goodson both of the Lemon community, and Michael Goodson (Holly) of Raleigh.  He is also survived by  4 sisters; Ruby Wedgeworth (John),  Virginia Batte (Bennie) all of the Lemon community, Nita McGriff (James) of the Cohay community, Joyce Beatty (David) of Polkville, and2 brothers, James Goodson of Cohay, and David Goodson (Linda) of Lorena.  Mr. Goodson also leaves behind a legacy of 4 grandchildren; Hannah Warren, Andrew Goodson, Savannah Brooks, and Aubrey Goodson.  He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
