Johnnie N. Lomax SandhillJohnnie Norris Lomax, 55, a resident of Sandhill in Rankin Co. died Monday, January 24, 2011 surrounded by his family. Visitation was held 5-9 pm Tuesday, January 25, 2011 and 8:30 am – 1:00 pm Wednesday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 2 pm Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Eureka Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Bobby Tagert, Rev. Ted Weeks and Rev. Floyd Steverson officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.Mr. Lomax, a native of this area, was the son of Winston Ray and Helen Christine Lomax. He was a painter by trade and was a member of Eureka Baptist Church. Mr. Lomax a gentle spirit with a love for hunting, his two sons, and his many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Mr. Lomax was preceded in death by his father, Winston Ray Lomax, and a nephew, William Louis Lovett.Mr. Lomax is survived by his sons, Jeremy Scott Lomax of Sandhill and Justin Alan Lomax of Starkville, and their mother, Vicki Brown of Starkville; sisters, Barbara Ann Martin (John) of McComb, Shelia Thomas (Larry) of Birmingham, AL, and Donna Lawrence of Sandhill; brother, Billy Ray Lomax (Argie) of Sandhill; nieces, Christy Hester, Rebecca Thomas and Rachel Lawrence; nephews, Wayne Martin, Chad Martin and Josh Thomas; numerous great nieces a great nephew and a host of friends.Serving as honorary pallbearers were Steve Renfroe, Doug Smith, Charles McCullough, David Stewart, Dustin Clay, Tony Holeman and serving as an honorary pallbearer was Sidney Holmes.
