Jon Murray, a resident of Brandon, MS for 45 years passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at River Oaks hospital. Visitation will be held on Sun. March 2, 2025 from 5pm-7pm and on Mon. March 3, 2025 from 9am-11am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11am on Mon. March 3, 2025 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Brandon, MS.

He was a vibrant flash of color in an otherwise drab world. He is preceded in death by his wife, Tempy Murray. He is survived by his older brother Lynn Murray, his son Josh Murray, and his daughter Rachel Murray Berch. He leaves behind 4 grandchildren, and countless lives that he warmed with his larger-than-life personality and expansive sense of humor.

Jon was a deeply spiritually-motivated person, and shared his profound and joyful love of Jesus with those around him. Jon was born March 11, 1953, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott Kansas. Jon graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1972 in Fort Scott Kansas. He married Tempy in 1973. In 1977 he moved to Jackson MS and then settled in Brandon in 1980. He was a founding member of Vineyard church in Flowood, and the Black Rose Theater in Brandon. In his later years, Jon was active in the Crossgates Baptist church. He also attended a Tuesday morning men’s Bible study.
