Joseph Watson Biggers, 82, a resident of Philadelphia, MS died Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Neshoba General Nursing Home in Philadelphia, MS. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Visitation will be held from 3 pm until 6 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Biggers was a native of Winona, MS. He was the son of Guy Biggers and Alta Mae Watson Biggers. He was married to Maxine Biggers. He earned a law degree and was in the insurance industry. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Mr. Biggers enjoyed singing, crossword puzzles, reading, hand bells, fishing, model airplanes and many other activities that were of interest to him. He loved his family and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Biggers was preceded in death by his father, Guy Biggers and mother, Alta Mae Watson Biggers; his wife, Maxine Biggers and his son, Johnny Biggers.
Mr. Biggers is survived by his step children, William David (Sharon) Yates and Robert Mitchell Yates; Sisters, Nita (Charles) Moreland, Etta (Roger) Patrick and Verdi (LaVerne) Pepper; 5 grandchildren, Joey Yates, Jason Yates, Dale Yates, Ashley Yates Kilcrease and Timothy Yates; 8 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
