Joseph Garner

Joseph Dewitt Garner, 90, a resident of Pearl, MS passed away surrounded by his family Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held from 11am until 1pm Saturday.
Mr. Garner was born on November 11, 1926 to Marion Purvis Garner and Vermell Barnhart Garner. He was married to June Goit Garner. Mr. Garner worked many years as a supervisor for Bell South before retiring. He was proud to have served his country in the US Army. He served as Deacon in several churches, Bethel Baptist, Norwood Valley Baptist and Crossgates Baptist. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Garner was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marion Everett Garner.
Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, June Goit Garner; his children, Cheryl Garner (Tommy) Saffle and David (Tamara) Garner; brother, Clyde Harold (Jean) Garner; four grandchildren, Owen (Emily) Saffle, Justin (Laura) Saffle, Ryan (Elizabeth) Saffle and Brandon Garner; seven great grandchildren, Landon Saffle, Hastings Saffle, Ellie Saffle, Grady Saffle, Joseph Asher Saffle, Caroline Saffle and Reaves Saffle; seven nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
