Just before midday on Sunday, November 27, 2022, the Lord called our unforgettable Joseph to his eternal home and he departed this troubled world to assume the place reserved for him in heaven’s eternal chorus. Visitation will be Thursday, December 1, 2022,from 5-7 pm and Friday at noon at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services will be held at 1 pm Friday at the funeral home.
While on earth, Joseph served many people in many ways. Those whom he loved, and who loved him dearly, knew Joseph through his many different facets and roles; faithful husband and father, beloved son, exceptional sibling, steadfast friend, ambitious entrepreneur, gifted carpenter, talented mechanic, erudite scholar, adventurous gourmand, and passionate dreamer. He loved people, was generous to a fault, and extended help to others whenever possible. Joseph even used his God given gifts and skills to do short term volunteer missionary work in both Honduras and Far East Russia.
Family was very important to Joseph, and he was always looking for ways to spend more quality time with Andrea and the children he loved so dearly. Joseph was a doting parent and proud of his accomplishments and talents he sought to encourage Ethan, Drew, and Ava. True friendship was a core value for Joseph, and he maintained many close, special relationships, even those formed
during his early years as the childhood family moved from Hattiesburg to Biloxi, Pontotoc, and finally Brandon. Joseph’s character and integrity were influenced greatly by the examples lived forth by his grandparents. His love and respect for Papa, Grammy, Papa Dude, and Betty Jo was clearly evident from how much time he wanted to spend with them and often they were quoted.
Survivors include his wife, Andrea Gibbs of Richland, daughter, Ava Gibbs of Richland; sons, Ethan Gibbs and Andrew Gibbs of Richland; parents, Michael and Lynn Gibbs of Brandon; sister, Sarah Sharp (Brad) of Brandon; brothers, Chris Gibbs (Cynthia) of Madison and Sam Gibbs (Emily) of Pontotoc; father and mother- in-law, Andrew and Caroline Gardner of Richland and brother-in-law, Jesse Gardner of Richland. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
