Joseph Austin “Buddy” Lee
Forest, MS
Buddy Lee, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, September 10, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation hours will be Monday evening September 12th from 5-8 pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest, MS. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 13th at 11 am at Forest Baptist Church. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery.
Buddy was born in Morton, MS to Jack and Toolie Lee on September 19, 1931. He graduated from Morton High School and Mississippi College. Buddy was an outstanding athlete, playing quarterback in the first Miss. High School All-Star game in 1949. He received a football scholarship to Miss. State where he played for one year. He then transferred to Miss. College where he continued to play football and received his degree in business.
Buddy was a retired automobile dealer and salesman for over 50 years. He was a member of Miss. Automobile Dealers Association, served on the Board of Trustees at ECJC, a former Rotary Club member and an active member of the Forest Country Club. Buddy loved playing golf with his friends and loved his Miss. State Bulldogs.
Buddy was first and foremost a family man. He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Ina Faye Simmons Lee and his five children: Manina (John) Bauer of Orange Beach, AL; Ginny (Chuck) Jordan of Niceville, FL; Joe Lee of Forest, MS; Leesa (Keith) Wilkinson of Collierville, TN; and Jeff (Tammy) Lee of Philadelphia, MS. Buddy is also survived by eight grandchildren: Charlie Jordan, Richard Lee, Claire Jordan, LauraLee Jordan Hall, Austin Lee, Hannah Lee, Ashlee Lee, Kirstin Wilkinson and four great-grandchildren: Ella Kate Jordan, Kyndall Lee, Lucy Jordan and Karoline Lee. He is survived by one brother, John E. Lee of Pearl and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Buddy is preceded in death by his father, Jack Edwin Lee; mother, Tallulah Latham Lee, daughter-in-law, Penny Anderson Lee and granddaughter, Lindsay Lee Thompson.
