Joe Macon, a longtime resident of Eupora, MS and a resident of Brandon for the past 13 years, was born on February 19, 1941, and passed away at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS on February 19, 2011 with his family at his side. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 pm Monday, February 21, 2011 and from 1 – 2 pm Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 2 pm Tuesday from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in the New Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, MS.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leonard and Martha Lula Langston Macon of the New Hope Community in Webster County, MS and a brother, Bobby Macon of Eupora, MS. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon and a member of the Believer’s Sunday School Class. He retired from Interstate Bakery in Eupora, MS in 2003.
Joe is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Coleman Macon of Brandon; his daughter, Dana (Mike) Malone of Pearl, MS; a son, Jody (Susan) Macon of Brandon, MS; and one sister, Kay Sistrunk of Baton Rouge, LA.
Joe’s pride and joy were his grandchildren, Hadley, Joseph and Mollie Macon of Brandon, MS, and Jacob and Nicholas Malone of Pearl, MS. He enjoyed watching them as they participated in all aspects of sporting activities. He also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his son, son-in-law and grandchildren.
