Joseph was born on April 23, 1998 at Womans Hospital in Flowood, where he was lovingly cared for by Dr. Charles Knight and the incredible nurses of the NICU. He made three trips to the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio during his first four years of life for congenital heart defect repair by Dr. Roger Mee and his team of medical professionals. He and his parents gained a new family member, Debbie Gilchrist Bourdakos, while in Cleveland. She literally carried them through four years of treatment and remains a close friend to this day. Joseph has been cared for by numerous physicians over the years at Batson Children’s Hospital…all are loved and deeply appreciated.
Joseph graduated from Brandon High School and was currently attending REM Day Services in Brandon.
Joseph lived a happy life with his mama, daddy, and sister in spite of multiple disabilities and health issues. He loved to play with musical toys and juggle objects in his sink. He knew what he wanted and needed and exhibited perfect faith that it would be provided, a lesson for all of us. He taught his family more than they could ever teach him. He leaves a giant hole that will never be filled.
Joseph was preceded in death by his grandparents Martha Faye and Leroy Crisco and Delois and Billy Orr. He is survived by his parents Alison and Joey Orr, his sister and brother-in-law Katie and Joe Nelson, and three nieces Clara, Amelia, and Abigail Nelson. He is also survived by his aunt Whitney Orr, his uncle and aunt John and Robyn Orr, his first cousins Hayley and Connor Wieduwilt, Lucy and Richard Evans, and John and Mallory Darden and Pierce; his best friend and caregiver Jennifer Shortt , and his teacher and first date Margaret Ellmer. He leaves other aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family in addition to many many friends and caregivers .

Psalm 139: 13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
