Joseph Frank (Sonny) Shelton, Jr., 94, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020.

Mr. Shelton was born in Holmes County, October 30, 1925, to Joseph Frank Shelton, Sr. and Effie Presson Shelton.

Mr. Shelton was a U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corp veteran and served in WWII and the Korean War.  Prior to his illness he attended Drakes UMC.  He retired from Dealers Transport.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ophelia Norsworthy Byrd Shelton; and sisters, Rosie Burge and Nelda Shelton.

He is survived by his step children, Pam Broome (Gary), Danny Byrd and David Byrd (Donna); grandchildren, Jennifer Dunnaway (Bret), Amanda Byrd, Nelson Byrd (Wendy); great-grandchildren, Charlie Dunnaway, Shelton, Ellis and Mahaley Byrd.

Visitation will be 1pm until 1:45pm Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

A private service for immediate family members will be held at 2pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.
