Service times will be, Visitation 1pm – 3 pm Thursday June 14, 2012 with the Service following at 3:30pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Forest, MS. Interment in Carr Church Cemetery.



In Thanksgiving and Celebration for the Life of Ada Josephine Winstead Roberts




 
Josephine was born December 16, 1921, to Claude Winstead and Ada Susan Cooper Winstead in Pelahatchie, MS.  She attended Morton High School and graduated from Clark’s Business School in Jackson, MS.


 
She worked at Lee-Gray Chevrolet Company in the auto parts department and at Farmers and Merchants Bank in various positions.  She was promoted to Assistant Vice President before retiring after 29 years.


 
She married James Howard Roberts on December 20, 1942 and had three children: Maxine, Larry, and Joe.


 
She was a member of Forest Baptist Church for many years and became an associate member of Main Street United Methodist Church when she moved to Hattiesburg in 1991 to Wesley Manor Retirement Facility.


 
She is predeceased by her parents, Claude and Ada Winstead of Morton, Mississippi, her husband Howard Roberts of Forest, MS, her brothers John Winstead of Greenwood, MS, Odell Winstead of Morton, MS, Richard Winstead of Denton, TX, one sister, Thelma Thornton of Morton, MS, and one son Larry Howard Roberts of Ridgeland, MS.


 
Survivors are Maxine (Mrs. Frank) E. Dement of Hattiesburg, MS, Joe L. Roberts of Hattiesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center (formerly of Forest, MS), Son-In-Law Dr. Frank E. Dement, III of Hattiesburg, MS, a Daughter-In-Law Telise Lavender Roberts of Ridgeland, MS, Grandchildren: James Dement of Brandon, MS, a Daughter-In-Law Sandy Hogan Adcox Dement, Michelle Denise Dement of Wiggins, MS, Hollis S (“Pete”) Williams, Jay Roberts of Ridgeland, MS, Great granddaughters Alyson, Cameron, Kaylan, Ashley, and Carey, and many nieces and nephews.


 
She enjoyed sewing, reading, puzzles, and gardening.  She was active in church activities and involved with family activities for several generations.  She loved her God and was loved by many.


 
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Carr Methodist Church Cemetery Fund (C/O Tommy Gilbert, 11137 Highway 501, Forest, MS 39074), Hattiesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center (514 Bay St.), and Main Street United Methodist Church Covenant Care Ministry (712 N. Main St.)
