Josie S. Benton, 91, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 at Briar Hill Rest Home in Florence, MS. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS. Graveside Services are 2:30 pm Wednesday in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS. Rev. Justin McClendon is Officiating.
Josie Shanahan was born on August 22, 1919 in Philadelphia, MS to the late Dwight David and Amelia Salley Shanahan. She had been a resident of the Jackson area for 70 years. She was a homemaker. She was a former member of McDowell Road Baptist Church in Jackson. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland S. Benton. She is survived by her son, Leland W. Benton and his wife, Joan of Florence, MS; her grandson, Chris Benton and his wife, Elisha of Florence, MS; and two great granddaughters, Cameron Benton and Hayden Benton.
The family would like to say a Special Thank You to the Staff at Briar Hill Rest Home.
