Joyce Smith

Ms. Joyce C. Smith, age 81, and a longtime resident of Scott County, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Scott Regional Hospital at Morton.

A native of Forest, Ms. Smith was a graduate of Harperville High School and a retired bookkeeper/receptionist for Russell Dental Clinic in Forest. She was a Christian by testimony of her faith and a member of the former, Temple Baptist Church in Forest. An avid reader of all genres of novels, Ms. Smith also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. A “social butterfly,” who enjoyed being around people, will be remembered for coining the phrase “pop overs.” She also enjoyed cooking, tending to her flowers, and gardening, as long as her health permitted.

She is preceded in death by her spouse: W.H. Dunn, Jr., her parents and several siblings.

Survivors include her three daughters: Suellen (John) Gunn of Pelahatchie, Becky (Billy) Cook of Carthage and Donna (Bo) Martin of Oxford; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two siblings: Johnny (Harriet) Caldwell and Ann (Roger) Coffin; several nieces and nephews also survive.
