Joy Whittington Bynum, 75, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Madison County Nursing Home in Canton. Visitation is 5-8 pm Tuesday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 10 am Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the funeral home with a 12:30 pm graveside at Holly Grove Baptist Cemetery in Braxton.
Mrs. Bynum was a native of Simpson County and a longtime resident of the Jackson area. She was a former and faithful member of West Jackson Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and worked with the senior citizens. She was currently a member of Star Baptist Church. Mrs. Bynum will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Della Whittington, husband, Robert H. Bynum, Sr. and sister, Carolyn Ellis.
Survivors include her daughter, Angelia B. Bowron (James) of Jackson; son, Robert H. (Buddy) Bynum (Cindy) of Star; grandchildren, Robert Bynum, III, Christopher Bowron, Timothy Bynum, Barry Bowron, McKenzi Bynum, Josiah Bynum and Joshua Bynum, great- grandchildren, Adi Bowron and Breckan Bynum; brothers, Charlie Whittington, Kenneth Whittington, William (Bill) Whittington, Floyd Whittington, Paul Whittington, Keith Whittington, Markel Whittington and Mark Whittington.
