BURIAL: HOPEWELL CEMETERY

J.T. Thrasher, age 84, a resident of Forest died Thursday February 7, 2013 surrounded by his family following an extended illness.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday February 9, 2013 from the chapel of the OTT & LEE Funeral Home in Forest with interment in the Hopewell Baptist Cemetery. Bro. Ed Crawley officiated the services. Visitation was held from 5pm to 8pm Friday February 8, 2013 at the funeral home.

He was born on September 18, 1928 in Smith County to Bill Thrahser and Mildred Henderson Thrasher. Mr. Thrasher loved his country and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church, and member of the VFW Post. At a very young age, he became interested in carpentry and began working with Mr. H. D. Carr who was very instrumental in his interest in carpentry. He loved to fish, hunt, work in his garden and loved camping.

Mr. Thrasher was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Hugh Thrasher, Hubert Thrasher, Neil Thrasher and a great-grandson, Brett Hannah.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary “Sue” Thrasher of Forest, a daughter; Vilinda Yates (Johnny) of Conehatta, a step-son, Dale King (Becky) of Forest and step-daughter, Kay Thornton of Morton, a brother; Dale Thrasher of Greenville, TX. He also leaves behind a legacy of 7 grandchildren; Rodney Hannah (Robin), Amanda Dennis (Chris), Jeff Craig (Ashley), Robert King, JR (Charity), Devin Thornton, Sammy Taylor and Dewayne Taylor (Marsha), and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Rodney Hannah, Jeff Craig, Robert King, Jr, Blake Germany, M.J. Morehead and Adam Hannah. Honorary pallbearers were Ben Ware, James Goodson and Dr. William Lewis.
