Nita is survived by her three children: Charles Edwin White (Robin Lewis White) of Suwanee, Georgia, Ronald David White (Mary Kilgore White) of Gulf Shores, Alabama and Pamela McNutt Whaley of Minnetonka, Minnesota; her seven grandchildren, Daniel Preston White (Melissa) of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Christopher Matthew White (Holly) of Cumming, Georgia, Blair Marie White and Andrea Louise White of Gulf Shores, Alabama, George William Whaley, Chole Anne Whaley, and Emily Elizabeth Whaley of Grand Forks, North Dakota; and five great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, and treasured friends. Nita was preceded in death by Albert Mason Cooper and Annie Doolittle Weems Cooper of Brandon, Mississippi, Albert Edwin Cooper of Orange Beach, Alabama, Francis Cooper Cox of Brandon, Mississippi, Marjorie Cooper Loposer of Alpharetta, Georgia, Albert Edwin Cooper, Jr. of Coffeeville, Alabama, Sidney “Sid” Anderson Cox of Brandon, Mississippi, Charles Harvey White of Monroe, Louisiana, Herschel McNutt of Birmingham, Alabama and Earl Preston Mitchell of Montgomery, Alabama.

Nita graduated from Brandon High School in 1947 where she was very active in the school and was honored by the accolades she received from her fellow students: Editor of The Bulldog Barks, Senior Y-Teams, Girls Basketball Team Manager, Miss Brandon High, Most Popular Girl, Most Versatile Girl, and Senior Class President.

After high school, Nita married and moved to Alexandria, LA where she worked for the Bentley Hotel in the Auditing Department and as a Food Buyer. Nita’s husband Charles’s job sent the couple and their first son (Charles), to Hattiesburg, MS where their second son (Ron) was born. Nita’s young family moved to Decatur, AL where they enjoyed water skiing on the Tennessee River, dancing and playing Bridge with friends. After a brief stint in Decatur Georgia, Nita and family moved to Birmingham, AL, where Nita was active in the local Garden and Bridge clubs.

Nita began working for the Mountain Brook Business Association as a bookkeeper, public relations, and for Exchange Security Bank (later known as Regions Bank.) Nita rose through the ranks at the bank, progressing from Bank Teller to Branch Manager and then Vice President.

While in Birmingham, Nita married Herschel McNutt and they had a daughter (Pam) together.

Later, Nita married Earl Mitchell and they moved to Montgomery, AL. Here she joined Frazier Methodist Church and became the Membership Secretary. At Frazier, she put her hospitality experience and her love of flowers and arranging flowers to use as she became a Wedding Coordinator, and as a result, she pleased many brides with her talent.

Nita’s talents and work ethic were passed on to her children and on to her grandchildren who have become successful in their own endeavors and have raised terrific kids themselves. Nita would be very proud of each one of them. She leaves behind quite the legacy.
