Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Gatewood will be conducted Monday, May 11,2015 at 11 AM from the Pine Bluff Baptist Church in Newton with Bro. Victor Bugg and Bro. Josh Lang officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 6 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home and on Monday, beginning at 10 AM at the church.
Mrs. Gatewood was born June 11, 1935 in Scott County to her parents Ray and Ruth Hollingsworth and passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest at the age of 79. She was a native of Scott County but had lived at Lawrence since 1960. A longtime owner of Gatewood Grocery and a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church, Mrs. Gatewood was an antique collector, craft maker, especially those with butterflies, an avid flower gardener, and quilter. She loved her family dearly, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the “apple of her eye.”
She was preceded in death by her husband: Lemmie Gatewood; her parents: Ray & Ruth Hollingsworth and two brothers: Marney Ray and Larry Hollingsworth.
She is survived by her two children: Danny Gatewood of Lawrence and Vicki (Bill) Vance of Newton; two grandchildren: Nikki Kelly of Newton and Chris Vance of Ft. Wayne, IN; five great-grandchildren: Grace Kelly, Aaron Kelly, Angel Kelly, Will Vance, and Andy Vance; one sister: Pat Wilkinson of Lake.
Pallbearers will be Dale Hollingsworth, Bud Hollingsworth, Raymond Hollingsworth, Stacy Wilkinson, Wayne Clanton, and Bo Dean.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.
