Julia “Judy” Ann Nichols
March 17, 1953 – March 25, 2025
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Julia “Judy” Ann Nichols, who passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 17, 1953, to Fred and Ella Bee Freeman, Judy lived a life defined by faith, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Judy dedicated 36 years of her life as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UMMC, where she cared for the tiniest and most vulnerable lives with endless compassion. Even after retiring, her servant’s heart continued to shine as she volunteered at Gleaners, a nonprofit organization that provided food for local shelters. Her generosity and selflessness touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service.
One of Judy’s greatest joys was her 52-year marriage to her beloved husband, James—a love story built on faith, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Michael Nichols (Tabby) and Jennifer Foreman, who will forever cherish the love and wisdom their mother poured into them.
Judy’s greatest treasures in life were her grandchildren, Brody Nichols, Easton Nichols, Ella James Nichols, Ansley Foreman, and Levi Foreman. She was their biggest cheerleader, always there with open arms, a warm smile, and words of encouragement.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Becky Bass of Prentiss, and her loving brother, Larry Freeman (Lesa) of Brandon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ella Bee Freeman and sister, Nancy Bryant.
Judy was the embodiment of grace, strength, and unwavering faith—a true Proverbs 31 woman. She led with love, gave without hesitation, and left the world a better place simply by being in it. While we will miss her deeply, we find comfort in knowing she is resting in the arms of her Savior, reunited with those who have gone before her.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held on March 29 2025 at Ott and Lee Funeral home in Brandon, MS, with visitation beginning at 3:30 pm and funeral service beginning at 5:00 pm.
