Funeral services for Julia Thompson will be conducted Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Forest with the Rev. Robin Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery in Attala County under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and on Sunday from 12 Noon until 1:45 P.M. prior to the funeral service.
Mrs. Thompson, age 81, a resident of Forest passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at her residence. She was a retired nurse’s assistant at Lackey Convalescent Home, and also was a personal care home provider for many years. Favorite past times she enjoyed were shopping, going to gospel singings, and visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed being active in her community and was a “people person.” She was a member of Lawrence Baptist Church. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Everett Thompson; one son: Everett Dale Thompson; her parents: Riley Hayden and Willie L. Culpepper; and her siblings: Ruth Ainsworth, Olin Culpepper, and Betty Jo Buffington.
She is survived by one daughter: Bobbie (Dwight) Comans of Forest; two grandchildren: Rene' (Joe) Bradford of Forest and Jan (Tim) Cook of Brandon; two great grandchildren: Nicole Waldrip of Forest and MacKenzie Cook of Brandon; one great-great grandchild: Dylan Bagley of Forest.
