Funeral services for Mrs. June Claypool will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday, August 5, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. Gary Glazier and Bro. Jody Woodward. Interment will follow in the Morton Memorial Gardens under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Visitation will be from 5-9 pm Friday, August 4, 2017 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Claypool, age 90, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at her residence. The Scott County native was a retired filing clerk with Deposit Guaranty National Bank. She was a member of the Morton Eastern Star and the Morton United Methodist Church. As a seamstress she enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, macramé and making dolls. Mrs. June loved her family and she had a close relationship with her sister, Ruth, who lived next door, not only being sisters, but neighbors. Favorite past times were working in her flowers in her yard, and cooking. Her son recalled fishing was also a favorite past time and she made the best fish fry and hushpuppies, as well as macaroni and cheese, and chicken dressing. She also enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends at Heart and Hand.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Leslie I. Claypool and Jack T. Gaddis, Sr.; her parents: John Wesley and Zee Edwards Lindsey; two sisters: Katie Maude Carter and Mary Ruth Brooks.
Survivors include one son: Jack T. Gaddis, Jr. of Morton and one sister: Betty Jo (Billy) Lewis of Morton.
Pallbearers will be Kent Pickett, Rickey Parker, Charles McCaughn, Paul F. Thompson, Grant Thompson, Chad Thompson, Jimmy Laird, Billy Mack Miles, Jim Johnson, and Matt Johnson.
