Justin Boyd

On Sunday, June 7, 2020, Justin Michael Boyd passed away unexpectedly in Jackson, MS at the age of 35.

Justin was born on August 25, 1984 in Slidell, LA to Vernon Bruce Boyd and Raina Garrity.  Spending his childhood between Indianola and Pearl, he was a 2002 graduate of Pearl High School.  A member of Grandview Baptist Church in Pearl, Justin was baptized and saved through his faith in Jesus Christ on October 28 of 2001.  Like his father, much of his working life was spent in the grocery business, where he is remembered as a diligent and hard worker.  He married Brandi Byrd of Florence in December 2007 and had one son, Asher Michael Boyd in May 2012.

Justin was an avid sports fan, following his beloved New Orleans Saints and Mississippi State Bulldogs.  He enjoyed attending sporting events of all sorts but had a particular affection for Saints games in the Super Dome or Bulldog events in Starkville.  Playing recreational football and basketball was a hobby of his throughout life.

Perhaps best known as a kind, compassionate soul, he was a loyal friend, even to a fault.  His many friends will remember him for his wit and contagious smile.

He was preceded in death by his mother Raina Garrity Fox of Jackson, grandparents Vernon and Iris Boyd of Indianola, and grandfather Harold Garrity of Slidell, LA.  Survivors include son Asher Boyd of Cabot, AR, parents Bruce and Debra Boyd of Pearl, step-father Coy Fox of Morton, brothers Jonathan Boyd of Birmingham, AL and Josh Fox of Morton, and grandmother Hilda Garrity of Slidell, LA, among many more family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in memorial of Justin M Boyd to Mercy House Adult Teen Challenge, a faith-based addiction treatment center in Georgetown, MS.  Donations can be made through mercyhouseatc.com.
