J.W. Thomas, 36, a resident of Florence, MS passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Florence, MS. Funeral services will be held 1 pm Friday, May 12, 2017 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS with interment at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Mitch McWilliams will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Richland, MS.
Mr. Thomas a native of Rankin County. He was the son of Ricky Thomas and Billie Jean McLees Leggett. He worked as a framer in the construction industry for many years. He was Baptist by faith. He was remembered by his family as a good dad, one who loved life and lived it to the fullest, had a big heart for people around him and would do things for them just because, enjoyed building furniture, enjoyed hanging with friends who he considered family; loved supporting his children in anything they enjoyed doing, Basketball, fishing or cooking out. He loved his family and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Billy McLees.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his children, Selena and Cameron Thomas both of Florence, MS; parents, Ricky Thomas of Florence, MS and Billie Jean (Todd) Leggett of Florence, MS; brother, Lee (Tiffany) Thomas of Florence, MS; maternal grandmother, Jewell McLees; paternal grandparents, Mary Connor and Jan Thomas; niece, Brelyn Thomas and sister, Brandy Thomas Dossett; Companion, Crystal Wilmoth; Many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends that he considered family.
