MRS. KATHERINE HARRIS PHILLIPS
CARTHAGE
Mrs. Katherine Harris Phillips, age 89, a resident of Carthage, but formerly of Morton, died, Tuesday July 20, 2010 at Brandon Nursing & Rehab Center in Brandon. Visitation was held 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm Thursday, July 22 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 2:00 pm Thursday, July 22, 2010 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Morton Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Ron Dufour officiated the services. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton was is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Phillips was a native of Morton but had lived in the Carthage area for the past 45 years. She loved to quilt and has left behind many of her masterpieces as gifts to her family members. Her quilts will be a treasure that its owner can wrap himself or herself in and remember the warmth of her love. Katherine loved sitting with people when they were sick or if they just needed a friend to talk too. She will be remembered by her children and family as just a “Grand Lady.” Mrs. Phillips will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Preceded in death by her husband, Barney Ralph Neville Phillips; parents, Harvey Lee Harris and Claudia Bratcher Harris; son, David Lee Phillips; grandson, Glen Paul Phillips; granddaughter, Melissa Phillips White; sister, Nellie Mae Beemon and brother, Sammy Lee Harris.
Survivors include 3 sons, Arland Phillips (Edna) of Brandon, Walter Phillips (Paulette) of Brandon and Lonnie Phillips (Betty) of Montrose; 1 daughter, Sheila Brashers (Gary) of Brandon; 7 grandchildren, Steven, Kenneth, Paul, Lori, Amy, Jason and Justin and 10 great grandchildren, Alaina, Katie, Trevor, Harley, Chance, Bailey, David, Madison, Nicolas and Conner.
Pallbearers were Steven Phillips, Kenneth Phillips, Paul Phillips, Jason Phillips, Justin Chamblee and Don Reed.
