Katherine (Kern) Seiler, 103, of Brandon, Mississippi, peacefully passed away in her sleep on July 30 at Brandon Nursing & Rehab.
She was born on June 22, 1917 in LaConner, Washington to Coy Roscoe Kern and Ethel Louise (Jones) Kern. She was highly intelligent, graduated as Salutatorian of her high school class and completed Nursing School with honors. After working in WA for several decades, she followed her daughter and son-in-law to Memphis, TN where she worked as an RN for Methodist Hospitals of Memphis until she retired as Director of Nursing in 1981. She then moved to Indianapolis, IN where she lived independently and was active in her Senior Living community, Calvary United Methodist Church and volunteered for the Hospital Nurses Guild. In 2014, she relocated one last time to Brandon, MS.
Katherine had a quiet, comforting demeanor and strong faith. She lived a life full of serving, giving, accomplishment, adventure, and fierce love for her family. Her greatest joy came from her role as Grandma and Great-Grandma. She had a clever wit to the end and was a model of strength and courage in the face of adversity, not given to complaining, but quick to put the needs of others first. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of being touched by her life.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeri Jaggar; grandson, Larry Wayne Jaggar; her parents; sisters Marian, Margery and Francis; brothers Jack and Don. Katherine is survived by son-in-law, Dudley Jaggar; Grandson; David (MaryJo) Jaggar of Plainfield, IN; Granddaughter, Katherine “Kathy” Jaggar (Jeremy) Lewis of Brandon, MS; and great-grandchildren David, Bonnie, Lindsey and Nate.
