Kathryn Herron Carpenter, age 73, a lifelong resident of Forest, died Friday, January 10, 2020, in Jackson following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Monday, January 13, 2020, from the Homewood Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Homewood Cemetery. Rev. Milton Koon and Rev. Phillip Roland will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the OTT & LEE Funeral Home in Forest and on Monday, at Homewood Methodist Church from 10:30am till service time at 11am.
Kathryn was born on Sunday, June 30, 1946, in Homewood to her parents, John William Herron and Mary Thelma Westbrook Herron. She had worked for the Scott County Times as a typesetter. She was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church but more recently had been attending Homewood Methodist Church. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was most fond of her loving husband, Kermit. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Tammy Lee Frank, a brother, Charles Leslie Herron and recently departed niece, Denese Sawyer Jones.
Survivors include her husband, Kermit Carpenter of Forest, a sister Johnnie H. Jones of Homewood, nieces, Lanay (Ricky) Russum of Polkville, Tonda Rayborn of Raleigh, nephew Bill (Shelia) Sawyer of Homewood, several great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Wesley Jones, Ricky Russum, Jonathan Sawyer, Daniel Russum, Bill Sawyer, and Mark Gaddis. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Weldon, Timothy Hodges, and Bobby Shumaker.
