Katie Mae Purvis Patrick, born October 7, 1920, in Pelahatchie, MS, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 8, 2012 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton, MS. Visitation is Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 5 – 8 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 9 am until the 10 am Funeral Service at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Antioch
Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverends Gayden Harrell, Vic Bowman, and Donnie Stuart will Officiate.
Katie was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She lived her entire life in the Concord Community, south of Pelahatchie and was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church until her health prevented otherwise. She was married to Wayne Patrick for 58 years, until his death in 1996. Together, they loved the Lord and taught their children that putting their faith and trust in God was the most important decision they would ever make. They lived and confirmed their faith in God on a daily basis. They taught their family that work was important and instilled a very strong work ethic in their children. Katie was an excellent cook and homemaker. One way she demonstrated her love for others was by feeding them. Most importantly, she made a lasting impact on the lives of everyone she encountered with her cheerful smile and loving heart.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Patrick, her parents, Wallace and Pearl Purvis, her brothers, Jessie Purvis and Edward Purvis, and sisters, Modena Purvis and Grace Bowman.
She is survived by her children, Kitty (Pat) Rogers of Mooresville, NC, Wallace (Sue) Patrick of Pelahatchie, MS, Billie (Billy) Roberts of Gulfport, MS, John (Kaye) Patrick of Pelahatchie, MS, Cindy (Chuck) Boling of Woodbridge, VA, and Nancy Floyd Patrick of Pelahatchie, MS; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Mississippi Care Center for the compassionate and tender care they provided Katie while she was a resident in their facility.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 2350 Hwy 43 South, Brandon, MS.
