Kay Fortenberry
Brandon, MS
Kay Fortenberry, 60, of Brandon, passed away on the morning of October 11, 2015. She was the youngest of four children and only daughter of George and Christine, who adored her. Growing up the youngest child she wore that distinction with pride and always gave her brothers the grief only the baby can provide. Kay made each of her two nieces and three nephews the focal point of her love and affection. She made the time spent with each, individually and collectively, special and always entertained them by playing UNO and taking trips to the toy store.
After the passing of her parents, her longing to see her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was made evident through subtleties such as her love for home decorations that resembled heavenly images. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she took it as an opportunity to bless everyone especially her nieces and nephews and their children with fun gifts that would be talked about for years to come. She will be remembered for salmon croquettes, love for children and youthfulness that remained until the end.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; stepmom, Virginia Fortenberry; brother, Ed Fortenberry.
She is survived by her brothers, Kenny Fortenberry (Helen) and Jerry Fortenberry (Anita), sister-in-law, Judy Fortenberry, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will start at 12 Noon on Wednesday. Services are 2pm Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with burial in Concord Cemetery. Rev. Scott Fortenberry will officiate the service.
