Kay Thornton

February 12, 1960 — July 16, 2016

Kay King Thornton, age 56, a resident of the Mississippi Care Center in Morton, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were conducted at 2pm Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from the chapel of the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment in the Harperville Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm to 8pm Monday, July 18, 2016 and again Tuesday July 19th from Noon until 1:45pm prior to the service at 2.
Rev. David Goree and Rev. Matt Armstrong officiated.

Mrs. Thornton was born in Morton, MS on February 12, 1960. She was a Baptist.
She had worked at Mississippi Care Center prior to her illness. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Eugene Odom.

Survivors include her father Robert King (Imogene), her mother Mary Sue Swanson (A.C.) all of Forest. She is also survived by two children; Jeffery Craig (Ashley) of Lena, Devin Thornton of Forest, one brother; Dale King (Becky) of Forest, two step-sisters; Velinda Yates of Conehatta and Judy Hurtt of Forest, step brother; Dwight Hurtt of Forest. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Jordan Craig, Kaleb Craig, Aubree Craig and Dillon Craig.

Pallbearers were Robert King, Jr. Sammy Taylor, Patrick Holmes, C.J. Martin, Jordan Craig and Kaleb Craig. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Pettigrew and Troy Smith.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Mississippi Care Center and Home Care Hospice for the kind and compassionate care provided to Kay.
