Keith Peoples, 76, while at his residence, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, November 18, 2012. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ott & Lee Chapel, preceded by visitation at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Sebastopol, MS. Reverends Lynette Little and Reid Whittington will officiate. Judy Davis will provide the music.
Keith was born June 23, 1936 to the late Chester and Myrtle Peoples in Madden, MS. After graduating from Madden High School in 1954, he served in the U.S. Air Force 3 ½ years. Keith married his high school sweetheart, Anna White. They raised their four boys in Jackson, MS. He was a mechanic and worked at the Ford dealership and owned a repair shop. Later, he went to work for Dealers Transport Company hauling new Ford cars all over the country and worked in the shop as a mechanic. When the company transferred to Meridian, MS, they moved to Collinsville, MS and lived in the Martin community. After retiring with 30 years in the Teamsters Union, Local 891, he opened his own business of farm tractor parts and repair, “Keith Peoples Tractor Parts”. He was well known for his vast knowledge of tractors. He was often called “The Tractor Man”. He believed in hard work and enjoyed helping others. He never met a stranger. He spent many hours just talking and enjoying people. He loved everyone and will be missed greatly. Keith was an avid race car fan. He and Anna traveled in their motor home to many races and places of interest all over the country. About 10 years ago, they moved back to Brandon, MS to be near family. Keith is a member of Gulde United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Anna White Peoples and four sons: Mike (Denise) Peoples of Brandon, MS, Randall (Suzette) Peoples of Houston, TX, Wendell (Julie) Peoples of Brandon, MS, and Gary (Melynda) Peoples of Hernando, MS; one sister, Betty Bullock of Brandon, MS and one brother, David (Faye) Peoples of Florence, MS; eleven grandchildren Jake (Lindsey) Stevenson, KP Peoples, Ashley Peoples, Kevin Peoples, Nikki (Elliot) Jackson, Jamie King, Jessica King, Taylor Peoples, and Steven Peoples; three great grandchildren, Preston Jackson, Sammy Jackson and Aiden King.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. David Sullivan and Nurse Mary Washington who treated him with care and compassion through the years. Also, Hospice Ministries, Debbie Woods, John Anderson, BB Watson and Mary Adkins, for their love and care in his final days.
Pallbearers: David Akin, Sammy Breland, Jason Duncan, Steve Freeman, James Harkins, John Smith and Danny Stegall. Honorary Pallbearers: The Retired Car Haulers Club of Jackson.
