Kenneth Johnson, age 86, a resident of the Homewood community died Monday, December 16, 2024, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Thursday, December 19, 2024, from the chapel of the OTT & LEE Funeral Home in Forest with interment to follow in the Homewood Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10am till the service time at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born on May 6, 1938, in Jackson, MS to his parents, Hallie Johnson and Winnie Bunch Johnson. He later served in the U.S. Army in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked for Packard Electric. Kenneth was a member of the Homewood Church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister Agnes Kelly, his first wife Gelene Rice Johnson, and his second wife, Ann Boykin Johnson.
He leaves behind four children: Joy Lynn Moffatt (David) of Mize, Kenneth “Hal” Johnson (Darlene) of Jackson, Christina Powell of Forest, and Carrie Rogers (Trey) of Forest. He is also survived by six sisters: Janita Chrisman, Shirley Barnes, Mary Gibbons, Esther Mitchell, Nettie Welch, and Larraine Buie. Kenneth also leaves behind a legacy of five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Trey Rogers, Chandler Powell, Alan Powell, Payton Rogers, David Moffatt, and Hal Johnson.
